Great quality and value!
I purchased this ‘Hobbycraft’ sewing machine as it offered all the features I needed, but was significantly cheaper than its branded counterparts.
It is also a little heavier than the other machines I considered, which prevents it from moving while I am sewing.
I filled a bobbin, threaded the needle, plugged it in and off I went! Easy!
I’m really enjoying trouble free sewing and would highly recommend this machine.

Great Sewing Machine
I had to replace my sewing machine of 45 years as it was playing up every time I used it. It probably needs a service and overhaul. I mainly use my machine for fairly simple projects - things the grandchildren want me to make, bunting etc So after looking at sewing machines I decided to pick the Hobbycraft 19s. It’s fairly basic but was just what I needed. I had to learn how to thread it, as my old machine was quite different. After a bit of reading and practising, I was fine. I managed to finish my project of making a scorpion outfit for my grandson and it coped quite well, as the material was quite thick. It is so much lighter than my old machine and takes up less room too. All in all, although it’s early days, I am very pleased with my choice and such good value too.

Love it
I've been researching machines and the choice is overwhelming. I'm only a beginner and wanted an entry level machine that's not too expensive and easy to use and this is it. I love it.
I've made a few simple things on it like a corner bookmark, mini tote bag (from the hobbycraft ideas) as well as experimented and made my daughter a dice bag.
I would definitely recommend this if you're just starting out

Good beginners sewing machine
As a sewer of 50+ years I was looking for a inexpensive machine to begin teaching my granddaughter. I originally bought the midi but honestly did not get on with it so decided to take it back and upgrade to this model. So glad I did. Easy machine to use, good accessories and decent instructions. I have used it to do some sewing including buttonholes and have been impressed. It is a good starter machine. Don't think I would expect it to shorten jean hems but for beginners sewing projects ideal.

Great product
I have never sewn a thing in my life and wanted to get a machine that was fairly easy to use but also had some decent features and I found it in the Hobbycraft S19. I did browse the internet and found, for the money, you really can't beat this machine. Honestly you won't find another machine anywhere in this price bracket for what it does.
It was really easy to setup. The instructions that came with the machine are very clear but also, Hobbycraft have some really good videos on their website to help as well. For an absolute beginner I was up and running and practicing my first stitches in about 20min. After a couple of try's, I found I can now set the machine up in under a minute.
This really is, from my lack of experience, a great machine. If you are a beginner like me, stop wasting time looking for anything else, anywhere else and grab this one.
Added bonus. It comes with a 2 year warranty.

A Great Starting Point
I am the least talented sewer on the planet and have always paid someone to make the odd alteration or turn up a hem. However, lately I felt that for all that money I have spent, I probably could have helped myself by buying a small sewing machine. I took the plunge a few weeks ago and after an informative chat in store with a lovely sales advisor who new her stuff, bought this machine. I wouldn't say I'll be running up little black numbers any time soon BUT, I have learned a great deal through the on line tutorials and the machine is beautifully easy to use but not in any way lacking - lots of different stitch types to choose from and I am about to buy myself a 'blind hemmer' foot as well as an 'overcaster' foot. Thrilled to bits sums it up for me.

Machine changed my life
Great machine, I’m a novice but after almost 3 years of hand sewing this machine has changed my life, I make things to donate money to charity as a hobby and my order list keeps growing and growing, with only 1 pair of hands I needed help. I will continue to hand sew and I love it but the machine helps speed up the process for the bigger items.

Lovely easy to use for a complete beginner
Novice, instructions clear, easy diagrams, I have sown seams and practiced edges, I am amazed that I managed it and got over my sewing fear. I was sold this machine as a solid, good learner with quite a few stitches if I needed them easy threading and easy bobbin - it is true. I did it all, I am very slow and sometimes have a tremor. The sales lady said this was the best one for me, she was right. If I can do it, anyone can!

Lovely machine
I got this machine based on recommendation from store staff. My last machine broke and I wasn’t sure whether to get the same or change. This machine is more robust than my last. I’m far from an experienced machinist so needed something quite straight forward. It was a bit tricky to set up but otherwise it is smooth running, does everything that I want and more. Much quieter than my last my last machine

Amazing little machine
So I saw all the reviews on here were great which was what sold me, but what it didnt mention was what /how often people are sewing with it!
I sew cushion covers for selling in my shop, and my old machine had broken. I didn't want to spend too much , but I did want a reliable heavy duty machine and this is exactly that! My machine will make me about 20-30 covers a day back to back. It's not noisy or heavy either (well at least not compared to my old one!!)
I have also sewn together my leather wedding shoes (making adjustments and attachments) with it with no problems, which is amazing considering the material was so thick for the needle to get through.
You get lots of attachments , the staff are so helpful. They mentioned they also run sewing workshops for beginners which would be a great start for someone, as well as a really useful instruction manual and youtube videos if you want to set up yourself.
If your considering it , go for it. With 2 years warranty and under £100 you really cant go wrong, I love it.

Surprised!
I haven't owned a sewing machine for nearly 20 years and was expecting to pay around £300 for a good one. The shop assistant convinced me that this would do everything I needed it to do, so I took a chance reasoning that I could return it if it wasn't up to scratch.
I have now been using it constantly for a week and I am delighted with it. Couldn't recommend it highly enough!

Great beginners machine but some errors in manual
I bought this machine a few weeks ago. For the first few weeks I tried setting it up and using it myself before my lesson at hobbycraft (well worth it, just had to wait a little to get a slot).
The issue I had which a few other people have mentioned is the threads underneath were loose. I presumed this was a tension problem but actually its not. In the instruction manual there is a piece missing on the diagram so it's really confusing. When you are threading the machine for sewing, at step 5 marked on the machine (not in the manual, the step numbers don't correspond) you have to twist the hand wheel so alittle metal part comes up and thread through there. That's why its just getting 4 stars. The manual sucks and there are no videos at all. I thought I'd be fine without the videos but actually when it comes to trouble shooting, you need them. Also I found using the upright spool holder much more smooth. I've put photos of both these parts to help out anyone else who has the same problem and finds it as frustrating as I did!

This product has everything for everyday sewing.
This machine has everything you need plus a little extra for everyday sewing.
Its easy to use and has easy to follow instructions as well as on product instructions .
You get alot of product for a competitive price .
I would recommend this for all sewing from beginners to experts.

GREAT SEWING MACHINE
I could not be happier with the hobby craft sewing machine that I purchased for me and my mother. The instructions both inside of the manual and on the machine itself, were perfectly labelled. The size is also very convenient and it can easily be transported. Overall, I am really pleased with the product that I have purchased and would 100% recommend it to others.

Amazing.
I have never used a sowing machine before or even sown. Maybe the odd button or two but that is about it. I have always wanted to learn to sow and after much thought I chose this machine. Like for like it seemed better than the singer I also considered having better specs and settings. On getting home it was easy enough to set up but never having used a machine before it took a little effort! I think that's just me though! Now i have mastered the threading it is fantastic to use and I've been addicted ever since making patchwork quilted cushion covers. I'm now hoping to work my way up to a quilted throw.

Easy to use and great value.
This machine was half the price of the others I looked at. It’s great value for the money. It’s simple to use - the threading is all numbered so you can’t go wrong. It sewed through heavy fabric with no trouble. Comes with quite a few accessories that store inside the machine so you can’t lose them.

Great for beginners and Intermediate
Lovely lightweight well made value for money machine, suitable if you are just beginning like me or has enough features and accessories to aid the more advanced.
Easy to read instructions, doesn’t keep having threading or bobbin issues, I have successfully learnt and made hair scrunchies, lined children’s skirts and shorts and doll clothes.
Definitely well worth the investment of around £80-90!

Great for Beginners
I purchased this as a treat for myself to start a new hobby. I have never used a sewing machine and was anxious it may be too complicated. Sue, the assistant was soo helpful and explained everything well. The manual is also very easy to follow. I have used it to make four items in the past week. Great price for a great machine for a novice like me. Highly recommended.

Happy with machine so far and in terms of value for money its great. I wish there was a video to help with setting up the machine though as for a complete beginner and someone who hasn't used a sewing machine before the instructions weren't the easiest to understand.However still managed to figure it out in the end and overall very happy with my purchase.
