Decopatch never fails
I've bought a few of the different small decopatch animals from hobbycraft now and they've never failed me. Always good quality, holds up to loads of toddler paint/glue without going floppy.

Really cheap
Holds paint well. Use acrylic. It stands up. I bought 10 different ones. The children have taken ages to paint them which is good and now they can make a zoo.

Easy to decorate and looks great
A good size, easy to decorate and it looks great when finished. My 11-year old daughter painted it with acrylic paint and it looks great.
