Too sticky
I purchased a few colours and this was the only one I had an issue with. It was so soft and sticky that no matter how much icing sugar I used on the board and rolling pin it stuck when trying to roll. The only way I managed to use it was to knead some icing sugar into it before use which isn’t great when you’re using black as using lots when rolling out really showed in the colour.

So easy to use!
This product is fab......so easy to roll and mold into a wide range of shapes for your cake decorations. It's not sticky and leaves no residue at all. One tip: roll on to a surface of sprinkled royal icing, just to make sure it doesn't stick to your work surfaces when you are pulling it off.....it's fine on marble, but not standard kitchen roll tops! Definitely would use again.

Odd taste
The fondant had quite an odd taste, it was sweet but you can really taste the sheer amount of colouring that must've been needed to get the colour (it's probably the same with the majority of black fondants). This wasn't such a big deal for me as I was using it to coat dummy cakes. It is really nice to work with though and quite nice to cover cakes with.

I didactic notice that 4 out of the 5 250g packets were almost 2 weeks out of date!! It didn’t say on the stand that they were old stock! So this made it harder to blend the fondant together properly and was not as playable to roll out with fresh fondant. Tasted okay but not good to work with. A lesson learned to check the date in food packages!!

Difficult to work with.
While the colour is intense the icing remains sticky making it difficult to work with. It does not harden so remains soft even when shaped and left to dry. Working it with flower modeling paste does not harden it by much and tends to lessen the colour. Disappointing when the other colours work so well.

I bought this to ice a birthday cake I planned to made for my child. I had never made or used fondant icing before so wasn't sure what to expect. There was a great colour range. Each colour I needed they had! It was affordable, very easy to use and super tasty. Might try my hand at making another.

Easy Icing
Using this black icing is so much easier than trying to colour your own however it is quite soft and also difficult to keep it black when rolling out as even the smallest touch of cornflour turns it grey. Having said all this it was exactly what I needed for my recent birthday cake.

My grandchildren’s birthdays all fall within weeks of each other so I need fondant that is quick and easy to use. The children have the ideas for their cakes , this product gives me the ability to create their masterpieces . Well done Renshaw

Easy to use
I love this product, the icing is already quite supple so easy to manipulate. The colour is a rich black and not a grayish black like some I have encountered. I always find it difficult to colour white icing to black so this is a time saver.

Great coloured icing
I have found that some pre-coloured icing is on the dry side and doesn't taste that great. This is just the opposite! Really easy to work with and didn't dry out too quickly. Saves the hassle of drying to dye white icing and at a good price

Good- exactly what I wanted
This was exactly what I was looking for to cover a cauldron cake for Halloween. Easy to use. Only issue was that I had to buy 2 packets as it wasn’t available in larger sizes but generally wouldn’t need so much of such a dark colour.

I've purchased cheaper brands of icing in the past which don't last once opened, even if wrapped and they usually crack. The renshaw icing is brilliant quality and not overly pricey, I've made some lovely cakes with them thank you.

never lets you down
I always buy Renshaws icing it never lets me down. I have tried other makes but they are either too sloppy or dry out too fast. Hobbycraft have the largest range of their colours and I can always find the colours I am looking for.

Good product overall. With minimal issues.
I was making an 8 inch cake. For some reason it wasn't as flexible as the White Renshaw fondant. I needed to do some fixes e.elephant skin. But I would still purchase it next time. I just sprayed it with water and it was sorted.

Ideal for time saving
Purchased 4 different colours of icing. Found them easy to use and convenient. Easily mixed to create new colours and far less mess and time saving instead of trying to mix your own from scratch.

Excellent product
Excellent product to work with. Only ever use this brand. It's a shame you can buy the larger 500g and 1kg in all colours as works out quite expensive if example you have 8 x 250g packs of black at £1.80 a pack.

Used to personalise a plain cake. It was easy to work with and tastes nice as well. I used cutters on it and found the pieces easier to handle after refrigerating the icing after rolling , but I’m a novice.

Excellent icing.

Renshaw black icing
There is no way I would try to colour black fondant myself so this is definitely the way to go. Quite a soft fondant but worked well to cover a top hat cake. Would use again.
