Women's Institute Light Grey Soft and Smooth Aran Yarn 400g

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely yarn to work with Been going to try this yarn for ages, all the women at my craft club use it - it’s soft and I’m making an Amigurumi cat called Amari- San - he’s working up beautifully.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous Wool This wool is lovely and a gorgeous colour. I'm currently crocheting a baby blanket for my sister, so decided to buy a load of wool, to make myself a large blanket when I've finished. Luckily I bought it all just in time, as the shop closed the very next day! This should certainly keep me busy for a while, during these scary times. It's also great to be helping a good cause, as 3p from each sale is given to the National Federation of Women's Institutes. :o)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So soft and squishy This yarn is gorgeous.. it is so soft and squishy, and so lovely to crochet with. I am making a mosaic blanket with cream and light grey, and it’s looking and feeling great. Sadly, the only fault I found was in the middle of the ball which was quite tangled, and I am guessing is the way it is produced in the factory, but apart from that a beautiful soft yarn to use. With added bonus that it is washable. I would definitely recommend trying it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value wool On some of the balls of this wool it is very hard to find the starting end of the wool. By mistake I choose the wrong end, both wool ends in the middle of the ball of wool, and ended up having to continually untangle the wool as I crocheted. However lovely wool to work with and great value for money. My only gripe is that the starting wool end should be more visible and not in the middle of the ball as in some of balls of wool I bought!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WI range as excellent as ever! I absolutely love working with this range. I didn’t particularly want this colour way, but the shelves were absolutely decimated and I had a 5 pound voucher to use up! I crochet and when using this yarn the hook glides effortlessly through making the thing I’m creating grow much quicker with no knotting or splitting. A superb product, hopefully they’ll get more stock of different shades in soon!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! This is probably one of the softest, lovely and most all round beautiful wool I have used in a while. Was perfect as one of the colours in my new crochet project the other colours are just as fantastic and to be honest I'm not surprised have loved the WI wool range since I started crochet and knitting. Would highly recommend to every one of my fellow knitter and crocheters, in fact I have!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile and chic This is my favourite yarn to use; not just because it is a beautiful steely grey colour but the silky, soft texture with just the right amount of fluffiness makes anything I make appear boutique bought. I have made lacy tops, trendy mesh design jumpers and large cuddle cardigans in this yarn and I have always had people stop me and ask where I bought them...which is always gratifying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely texture and like ball size. I crochet A LOT. This yarn glides smoothly through the process. No nasty snagging or pulling. I can crochet much quickly with this yarn. I have been using a 3mm hook and find this the perfect size, also as this is a large ball no beed to keep joining yarn. Finshed products look fab. Will definately continue using this yarn in the future. Please dont stop selling this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this wool I often buy wool from all over the place but I decided to get a large one on the 3 4 2 offer. I have started the blanket and it's coming out so nice. Thick but soft so perfect for a newborn. Very happy with it. Also I was so happy with the customer service. The lady did two separate transactions to ensure I benefitted from the deals. Kind staff goes along way!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soft yarn in a lovely warm grey shade Very happy with the quality of this yarn and the colours available. I’ve made my first ever crochet blanket throw using this lovely soft yarn in a warm grey shade. I’m also adding pom-poms to decorate the edge. I’ve used almost 4 balls of yarn and also the Hobbycraft Pom-Pom maker. Very pleased with my purchase and already recommended to friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic results, just as I wanted. I have always been a bit doubtful about these big spools of wool, thinking that perhaps the quality could somehow be a let down....? I was very wrong. Since the moment I started my knitting I sow how nice to work with is, soft, warm, kind to children s skin and to my hand when handling it. Perfect buy, and even bought it in different shades!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautifully soft and great colour As a relative beginner to knitting and crocheting, I've tried quite a few different brands for my projects but I always come back to the Women's Institute ones - the colours are beautiful and the yarn so easy to work with. They also feel great, so soft to the touch so are perfect for cushion covers, blankets and the like. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So soft and lovely I really like this yarn, got it to make a present for someone leaving and I knocked up a crocheted snood. Felt really lovely as a completed product and I can't wait to start my next project with it- I bought a 400g so I have plenty left over and in this colour you can pretty much design and make anything you wish to.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Knotted yarn This wool is nice to work with.... however I can only give 2 stars. This is because it unravels so quickly and tangles into so many knots 😩 I find myself having to cut yarn and start rewinding it into a more manageable ball. All Hobbycraft WI yarn is like this. So disappointed ☹️

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing I started knitting with the Aran and it doesn’t seem to hold its shape. Also the thickness is variable. At one point I had to cut out a fair length because it was really thin, not like Aran at all. I have stopped knitting with it and started again with different wool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This wool knits up beautifully. I love knitting with this wool. It is easy to knit with as it doesn't split easily. It gives a very classic, expensive look to the finished goods. The shade of grey looks very contemporary and I would not hesitate to use this wool again, or to recommend it to others.
