My number one choice for knitting.
I have always knitted for the family and with the amount of effort,I do like a finished garment to look good and hold it's shape for at least 2 hand me downs. Womens Institute wool is my favourite. It is soft,comes in just the right colours and stands a good wash. My Grandchildren are very sensitive to itchy wool,but this passes the test for softness. I always look for it when I am looking for yarn.

This product solved a very specific requirement.
This yarn is soft and silky, dry pleasant to the touch. I needed yarn which would be suitable to knit tiny caps for premature babies. I tried several different weights and textures but the Women’s Institute double knit proved to be the perfect yarn I was looking for. It did as “ it said on the tin” or on the band - SOFT AND CUDDLY!!

lovely soft yarn
I bought three 50g balls of W.I. Soft & Cuddly yarn in Light Pink, Lot 2512, to make a baby sweater. It was nice to work with but I was rather annoyed to find several knots and broken yarn in the second ball; however the others were fine. I'm quite happy to purchase this brand of yarn again; it knits up well for baby clothes.

Love the yarn
The WI. Yarn is really lovely. It is the second time I have used it. It is soft and has a slight sheen. But oh! The pattern which I bought for a baby blanket had so many mistakes in it that I have abandoned it and am using one I had in my stock of patterns. I will be sending the pattern back to you with my comments.

Lovely wool to knit with
Despite purchasing all the same dye lots this wool was different shades within the dye lots. Was disappointed and upset with the customer service I received at the Crewe store regarding this when I went into the store to complain. It has put me off purchasing any more wool from Hobbycraft.

Surprisingly good quality for acrylic yarn
Surprisingly good quality For Acrylic yarn (which I would normally describe as disposable)! The WI have come up trumps with this one and I have made several baby clothes as has my daughter. I would purchase this again for children's clothes.

Lovely
Sort and lovely to work with. The colour is lovely too. The only down side was some glue from where the label had been stuck on had got on the wool and needed to be cut out. Apart from that I would highly recommend.

Soft and shiny.
As someone new to crochet I just think I chose the wrong yarn. It seemed to split easily, and no 'give'. But finished now and pleased with the result, beautiful colour, and feels lovely.

Not for everyone
I love using this yarn for delicate work, but It does tend to break up & can snag easily so not my favourite yarn by womans institute. Using a smaller hook gets better results.

Reasonable quality
One has to be a competable knitter, as the wool tends to separate if not carefull. Also found a knot in each ball! Not good if not noticed and ends up in the middle of the row.

Wonderful wool
I’ve really enjoyed using this yarn, it’s soft with a nice drape and ideal for the toy and baby comforter I made. It has a subtle sheen which makes this yarn really superior.

Splits
Personally I would not buy this yarn again , I crochet with it and it split into strands just like embroidery silk. A shame really because it was very soft.
