New jeans for old!
I used this dye to renew a good pair of black jeans which had faded. It was an easy process and, by protecting surrounding surfaces, was mess free. Excellent results which have prolonged the life of my jeans for a modest cost!

Great fabric dye!
Was easy go use and instructions were clear. It uses a lot more salt than initially expected though! The colour turned out great, definitely black. This pack was enough to dye one pair of linen trousers.

Reblackened campervan curtains very well
Bought this to dye some sun faded backout curtains on my campervan. Ease of use very simple. Instructions very easy to follow. Messy as used (what dyeing isn't?) Coverage very good at least another three years use out of these curtains. They look much better having gone from pale grey back to black.

Good
I used this product on a baby blue garment and hoped it would come out black but it came out navy, didn’t really expect it to turn black though and still overall happy with the colour

Good product
Very messy but it worked. I think I might have put too much in with the dye so it wasn’t as dark as I would have liked but lesson learned . I would buy it again.

Easy to use
Great product, easy to use, however dye won't take well to heavy items such as work trousers, but is fantastic for dying lighter materials such as cotton.

I have undertaken many dyeing adventures in the past. This had a great intensity of colour, I was only disappointed that it didn't cover the bleach marks.

Easy to use. Instructions clear. Used to dye black faded denim shorts. Gave good intense colour. Needs many rinses to run fairly clear. Rather messy!

To dye for!!!
Used to mask garish dog tooth checked trousers. Much improved results on attempts years ago, driven by excellent fit and quality of garment. Instructions were easy to follow and even dye result. Some synthetic fibre content so dye coverage wasn’t solid but the subtle feint check is great. New life for the trousers for a good while at a low cost. In fine weather, so no mess or splashes as put the dye bucket outside.

I wouldn’t bother with this.
I tried this colour but it came out blue. I did attempt to contact their head office (the products) but to no avail. I even tried to colour something different and the colour didn’t stick and was still a dark blue colour. It perhaps would work if you were to try to get something that is already black to just be a little brighter. But do not bother if you are trying to get something coloured black.

Poor product
I've used this twice now and poor results each time. Second time I used more than necessary and left it to soak a lot longer than should have been needed and it still didn't properly dye the fabric. It wasn't a difficult colour swap either - trying to dye a dark green dress black. Very disappointed as this is known to be a good brand.

Worked a treat
I used this to bring back the colour to my black van pumps that were still in good condition but faded. I mixed the dye with water and put into a squeezy bottle to saturate the fabric. They have come out really good and I still have some of the packet left to redo them again if I need.

Definitely one i will use again
Good product I enjoyed using this although colour results do vary depending on the size and type of fabric. Easy to use just add salt and warm water. Quite messy process so do wear gloves and have something you can use to mix the bucket. Definitely will use this again.

Good coverage
I used this product to dye a grey cardigan that had a purple ink stain. It’s really easy to use although I do recommend you clean any spilt liquid straight away and wear gloves! It did create a good even coverage, however the dye did lighten after one cold wash.

Not so good
This black dye is very blue toned and will turn light garments dark blue/ navy. This dye is best for refreshing faded black clothing. It also best to mix this black with the espresso brown dye to make the dye less blue toned and achieve a better black colour

It’s not black
Used this to dye a hoodie and all it did was dye it a dark grey colour it most certainly is not black! useless product not to mention a waste of money as it didn’t even do what it was supposed to, will not be buying dye from hobbycraft ever again

Great colour outcome
Easy to use dye, due to what we wanted to colour we actually used it in the bath as this was the largest container we had. It washed out of the bath fine and produced a good colour on the fabric.

Dye review
Was not happy with this dye. It left my fabric patchy and didn’t dye to a solid black colour. I used a bit less salt then said so maybe that’s why.

Need a fair amount for black jeans
Nice one. Stick enough for a set of jeans in the washing machine, extra long cycyle. Cheaper than a new pair and come out like new.
