Icing smoother
Awful, I spent a hour trying to get the glue of the smother . It was placed on the part that you use to smooth the fondant. I have try using hot water and washing up liquid. Mail varnish remover, the pink stuff, dishwasher and it still on. It was suggested that I use rubbing alcohol but will it work? I purchased 4 of these this morning. Very let down as I want to use them on a fondant birthday cake. Wish I had read the reviews before purchasing. This was flagged up a year ago by two other people. Why can’t the label be put else where , at least you could still use it.

Use WD-40 to remove the sticky tag.
After reading reviews about the sticky tag I was hesitant on whether or not to buy this but I needed a cake smoother and this was the one I could get my hands on the fastest, the price wasn't too bad either so I popped to my nearest Hobbycraft and brought it. It was exactly as the reviews said! I was so mad at myself for thinking I could get the tag off without the sticky part being left behind. I tried to scrape it off and it made it worse. I looked online to see if there was a way to get it off and the answer is WD-40, it works wonders and there is no sticky residue left. I now know what to use in the future.

Icing Smoother
I hadn't iced a cake before so wanted a tool that would iron out any imperfections. This was easy to use, had a good grip and gave great results. It was nice and solid without being flexible. It was reasonably priced too.

Annoying stickers
Smoother works fine. However, it was almost impossible to remove the bar code sticker hence the low rating. Was left with a very sticky residue.

This product gave me great results!
Made and iced a Toy Story themed birthday cake for my grandsons 3rd birthday! With lots of shops closed and limited stock in supermarkets I was asked by my daughter if I could take on the challenge!! I made a chocolate fudge cake (grandson’s favourite) and set about icing it - just blue sky and white clouds with added Toy Story figures! The icing went on well and the icing smoother made it look rather good!!

Price sticker led to sticky smoother!!
The actual smoother is fine and does the job. Unfortunately the price label was stuck on the actual smoother surface. It left residue glue which could only be removed with nail varnish remover. The smoother surface has to be smooth to do its job properly! Please, Hobbycraft - put your price stickers on the handle - anywhere but the smoothing surface!
