How to Make Liquid Soap
Discover how easy it is to make soap at home, perfect for gifting or personal use!
Handmade soap is a great beginners' project and it'll be a practical one too. Make your soap unique to you by adding fragrances and colours – and even a hint of glycerine for moisturising.
We suggest using recycled liquid soap bottles as an eco-friendly way to store and dispense it.
You Will Need
* Butter Soap Base
* Glycerine
* Soap Fragrance
* Liquid Soap Dispenser (You can wash out an old bottle)
* Fine Grater
* Measuring Jug
* Scales
* Funnel
* Whisk
* Saucepan
* Teaspoon
How to make
Grate around 100g of soap base using a fine grater.
Bring 400ml of water to boil, then turn down to a mild simmer.
Add in the grated soap base and mix until fully melted.
Turn off the heat and continue stirring.
Add in two teaspoons of glycerine and a few drops of your chosen fragrance.
You may need to add some more water until the mixture reaches a gloopy consistency.
Leave to fully cool, whisking occaisonally to ensure the mixture doesn't separate.
Once cooled, decant into a soap dispenser using a funnel.
